Kane Biotech Introduces Revolutionary New Pet Oral Care Product
WINNIPEG, MANITOBA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/31/13 -- Kane Biotech Inc. (TSX VENTURE: KNE), will launch its marketing field test for StrixNB, its revolutionary new pet oral care product, in Manitoba on February 1, 2013 in conjunction with Pet Dental Health Month. Kane Biotech is a biotechnology company engaged in the development and commercialization of products that prevent and remove microbial biofilms. Manitoba pet owners will be the first in Canada to have access to this easy-to-use companion animal oral care product that has the potential to change the way we care for our pets' teeth.
StrixNB is a new, safe and effective drinking water additive scientifically formulated to help maintain and promote good dental and oral hygiene in pets. It is unique because it works against bacteria associated with dental disease by altering the mouth's environment. It breaks through dental biofilm - a highly structured, matrix-embedded microbial population - making bacteria accessible for eradication by a microbial agent.
When you take care of your pet's dental health, you help keep your pet - and you - worry-free. Dental diseases cause discomfort and can lead to diminished appetite and weight loss. Worse still: some dental diseases, such as periodontal disease, can create bacteria able to travel into your pet's bloodstream, affecting the lungs, heart, kidneys, liver and nervous system.
StrixNB is made using a unique formulation of food grade ingredients and has received a notification number NN.1Q11 from the Interim Notification Program of Health Canada for Low Risk Veterinary Health Products. It is safe for everyday consumption and works for all breeds and sizes of dogs.
About Kane Biotech Inc.
Kane Biotech is a biotechnology company engaged in the development and commercialization of products to prevent and remove biofilms. Biofilms are a major cause of a number of serious medical problems including chronic infections and medical device related infections. They develop on surfaces such as catheters, prosthetic implants, teeth, lungs and the urogenital tract. Biofilms are pervasive, costly to deal with, and are involved in approximately 80 per cent of all human bacterial infections. The healing of chronic wounds alone costs the United States health care system $20 Billion per year.
Kane Biotech uses patent protected technologies based on molecular mechanisms of biofilm formation/dispersal and methods for finding compounds that inhibit or disrupt biofilms. The Company has evidence that these technologies have potential to significantly improve the ability to prevent and/or destroy biofilms in several medical and industrial applications.
